Learning from David Swenson

A Great Moment!

A Great Moment!

As I completed my Ashtanga  Certification, I felt a deeper understanding of the asanas, the ocean breathing and their values.  As my teacher David Swenson said: “Asanas in Ashtanga are like family members. You cannot take them away because you don’t like them, they are still part of the family tree.”  I will add: “So you try to find their positive qualities, concentrate on them, breathe and find a way to like them.  It gets easier with time.” As Pattabhi Jois would say: “Tomorrow!” When you could not get into an Asana, he would smile and only say: Tomorrow!

The guru is practice, the teacher is guidance. As a teacher and practionner, I always remember.
